Best-selling author J. Stewart Dixon will be giving a talk on mindfulness and cannabis at Charlottesville’s award-winning Greener Things CBD Dispensary on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 7 until 9 p.m. The evening will include conversation, humor, mindful meditation, and be followed by a period of discussion. This event is an opportunity to explore the use of cannabis as a tool for healing, personal growth, and self awareness.
J. Stewart Dixon is the author of “Spirituality For Badasses,” a best-selling spiritual self-help book series that’s funny and irreverent while offering practical advice and ways to change one’s life for the better. Midwest Book Review says that “‘Spirituality For Badasses’ should be part of any self-help, spirituality, or mindfulness collection. It goes where no other book in these genres dare travel, doing so in such a manner that older readers may be offended…but younger audiences will find it enlightening food for thought that speaks their language in a way no other book matches.”
Greener Things is Charlottesville’s first dispensary-style boutique cannabis store and a two-time winner of the Best of C-Ville award for Best CBD/Medical Marijuana Vendor. Since 2019, Greener Things has offered personalized, one-on-one cannabis consultations with knowledgeable and compassionate staff to the local community. In 2023, Greener Things opened a second location on Charlottesville’s historic Downtown Mall, bringing their unique, award-winning approach to legal cannabis to even more of the Charlottesville area.
“Both cannabis and mindfulness increase the parasympathetic activity of the body’s nervous system, promoting bodily relaxation,” says Dixon. “Properly implemented, combining cannabis consumption with a mindfulness practice creates a deeply relaxed, self-aware experience where mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and existential healing can take place.”
Maurice Robinson, Greener Things General Manager, agrees, and says, “At Greener Things, we know cannabis has a wide array of benefits beyond responsible adult recreational use. We’re excited to have this opportunity to foster a conversation about spirituality and cannabis, and are grateful to J. Stewart Dixon for helping to make it possible.”
J. Stewart Dixon’s cannabis and mindfulness talk will be held at the Greener Things location on the Charlottesville Downtown Mall, located at 407 E. Main Street, on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 7 until 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 and, due to limited seating availability, should be purchased beforehand to guarantee admission. The talk itself will last approximately 90 minutes and be followed by a period of discussion. Copies of Dixon’s books, as well as a selection of products from Greener Things, will be available for purchase afterwards.
